3D Wooden World Map Multicolor – Framed Panel
Warm wooden continents over a cool printed sea – framed, assembled, one hook
Choosing your map size
Every map is supplied as separate wooden pieces that you arrange on the wall yourself, so the size below is the space the finished map will occupy – not a box or a frame. Measure your wall first, then leave around 20 cm of clear space on each side so the map has room to breathe.

Framed panels
Mounted on a solid backing panel, ready to hang. No assembly, single piece.
| Model | Size | Dimensions | Weight |
|---|---|---|---|
| World map, Multicolor | S | 90 × 60 cm | 4.0 kg |
| World map, Multicolor | M | 110 × 80 cm | 5.0 kg |

Framed panels arrive assembled and are noticeably heavier than the piece-by-piece maps, since they include the backing panel.
Three steps before you order
- Measure the free wall. Width and height of the clear area, ignoring furniture that reaches less than 20 cm up the wall.
- Subtract the breathing room. Take off roughly 20 cm from each side. What remains is the largest map that will look comfortable there.
- Check the shape. All our world maps are wider than they are tall, roughly 3:2. A tall narrow wall will suit a smaller size than its height suggests.
Still unsure? Mark the outline on your wall with masking tape before ordering – it takes two minutes and settles the question.
Frequently asked
Is the size the map itself or the packaging?
The map. Boxes are much smaller, since the map ships as separate pieces.
Between two sizes – which should I take?
The larger one. The most common regret we hear is a map that looks smaller on the wall than it did in the box.
What if my wall is textured or painted?
The supplied tape holds on most smooth and lightly textured surfaces. On heavily textured walls, rough plaster or fresh paint (under three weeks old), the bond is weaker – write to us before ordering and we'll advise.
How much does it weigh on the wall?
Between 0.36 kg and 4.5 kg depending on size, spread across many separate pieces, so no single point carries much load. Framed panels are heavier and hang as one piece.

About this product
Wooden continents on a painted ocean
The panel comes assembled and framed. Behind the map is a printed backing board – a chart-grey ocean crossed by faint meridians, with an old-map wash to it – and the continents are cut from stained wood and mounted on top, standing a few millimetres proud of the surface.
The land runs through the full warm range: pale birch, chestnut, near-black walnut, mid-brown, warm ochre. Neighbouring countries almost never repeat a shade, so nearly every border is legible without needing the engraved line.
The detail you see up close
The ocean names, the compass rose and the small aircraft and ships are not printed on the backing. They are separate wooden pieces mounted on the ocean surface, which is why they carry their own shadows.
That layering is the point of the piece. From a sofa it reads as a framed map; from a metre away it becomes visibly three-dimensional, with the coastlines lifting off the water.
Two sizes, and they are not the same purchase
The small panel is 90 × 60 cm, the medium 110 × 80. The gap between them is larger than the numbers suggest, because a rectangle grows in both directions at once: the medium covers roughly 60 per cent more wall.
The small suits a hallway, a home office, or the space above a desk. The medium wants a sofa, a bed or a wide stretch of clear wall, and at that size the individual countries become readable from across a room rather than only up close.
What the frame changes
Our piece-by-piece maps have no border at all: continents mounted straight onto the wall, with the wall itself as the ocean. This one is a rectangle with a black edge, which puts it in the same category as a framed print.
The practical consequence is where it can hang. A framed rectangle sits comfortably alongside other framed things, in a gallery arrangement or above furniture. A borderless map needs clear wall around it and does not group with anything.
What it asks of the wall
One fixing, rated for a panel this size – a plasterboard anchor rather than a picture pin, and a hook rather than adhesive.
Because the fixing is mechanical, the wall surface stops mattering. Textured plaster, brick, painted panelling and freshly painted walls are all fine, which is not true of our tape-mounted maps.
Living with it
Dust it as you would a framed picture. The raised continents collect a little more than a flat print, so a soft brush works better than a cloth, which can catch on the edges.
Keep it out of direct sunlight. Here the backing fades before the wood does, and as the ocean lightens the contrast that makes the continents stand out begins to go.
Multicolor or Graphite
The two panels share the format and the chart-grey ocean; the difference is the land. The Graphite panel mixes slate and bronze into its continents and reads cooler; this one keeps the land entirely warm. Graphite also comes in one size only – if you need the smaller 90 × 60 format, this is the panel that offers it.
And if these colours belong on your wall but you want the scale and the ritual of building it yourself, the same palette exists as our taped Multicolor map, up to two metres wide.
One honest limitation
This is a decorative object rather than a cartographic instrument. Small countries and island groups are simplified or omitted at this scale, and coastlines are smoothed. If you need geographic precision, a printed map serves better.
Same wall, different room
Drag the slider – the only thing that changed is the map. No drill, no repainting: it mounts with the double-sided tape that comes in the box

Our craftsmanship
Made by our family, piece by piece
Every creatifwood map starts as a sheet of birch plywood in our family workshop. We cut, sand and finish each piece by hand, check every detail ourselves, and pack it ready to hang on your wall. No production lines, no shortcuts – just a small family that loves working with wood, and takes it personally that your map arrives perfect.
Meet the family behind your mapFrequently asked questions
Will the map stick to a textured wall?
Tape works on lightly textured walls; very rough surfaces need extra tape
How long does installation take?
A couple of hours with the included tape and stencils – no tools needed
Can I remove it and remount later?
Yes. Warm each piece with a hair dryer and peel it off gently – the wall stays clean. To remount, use fresh adhesive tape; the original tape won't hold a second time
What if a piece is missing or broken?
Write to us with a photo and we will send a replacement. Details are on our Missing Pieces page.
