About this product
A real building, reduced to 274 pieces
Every other set in this range builds a generic structure: a house, a wall, a tower. This one reproduces a specific building, and the geometry has to follow the original or it stops looking like the Eiffel Tower.
The build works through the tower's actual stages. The wide four-legged base with its arch, the taper to the first platform, the narrowing through the second, and the spire. Gustave Eiffel's structure was designed around wind resistance, which is why it curves inward rather than tapering straight, and the model keeps that curve.
Why 14+
The highest rating Igroteco give. The base sections are wide and the upper sections are narrow, so the build gets progressively less forgiving: by the spire the pieces are supporting almost nothing but themselves, and a joint that was left loose lower down will show.
It also has the least margin for improvisation. A house that comes out slightly wrong is still a house; this one is either recognisable or it is not.
What it is for
Of everything in this range, it is the one bought as a model rather than as a toy – for someone who has been to Paris, is going, or grew up hearing about it. It stands where it is put rather than being played with.
