About this product
The one with the sharpest edges
A cat's head and neck, ears up and alert. The ears are the feature: they rise to points as the slices line up, and the finished tips are as fine as this technique gets.
The rest of the head is calm by contrast, which is what makes the points read.
A face in smooth planes
The cat's face is worked in clean planes – cheek, muzzle, brow – where the lion's is rounded and the Staffy's is folded into muscle. Of the three animal heads it is the most sculptural in the classical sense: still, symmetrical, self-contained.
That stillness is also why it suits a shelf among other objects, where the busier models want space of their own.
The build
A hundred and eighteen pieces, around two hours. Same count as the lion and roughly the same time.
Finished
16 × 14 × 15 cm. It reads best from slightly above, which is how you see a cat sitting on a table, so a low shelf suits it better than a high one.
