Size L: the statement size, in nine maps

All six 3D finishes come in L at 150 × 105 cm, and the three 2D maps at 150 × 100 cm – the one size where the two ranges differ by a few centimetres. There is no framed panel this large; at this size the map is always built on the wall.

How big is it on the wall?

A metre and a half wide. The 3D maps weigh about 2.9 kg, the 2D maps 2.3 to 2.6 kg, spread across the separate pieces. Allow around 190 × 145 cm of clear wall, or 190 × 140 for a 2D map: measure the free wall, take 20 cm off each side, and what is left is the largest map that will sit comfortably there.

Which room suits it?

Above a sofa or a double bed, behind a dining table, on the long wall of an open-plan room. This is the size at which the individual country shapes read from the doorway and, on the 3D maps, the relief throws a shadow that moves through the day.

How is it mounted?

The same way as every other size, piece by piece on the double-sided tape supplied: the 3D maps with a paper positioning template, the 2D maps with two corner stencils. It takes longer than an M simply because there are more pieces, not because anything is harder. Lettering in English or French, chosen at checkout.
