About this product
Horns that leave the block
A dragon's head and neck, jaw closed, with two ridged horns sweeping back and up beyond the outline of the head. They are the only part of any model in this range that projects into open air rather than sitting within the mass.
The neck below carries a ridge of scutes running down the centre, so the sculpture has a spine that the animal heads do not.
The horns are built separately
They thread onto their own short rods rather than continuing the main stack, which is why they can project as far as they do. Assemble them at the end, once the head is complete and can support them.
They are also the pieces to be careful with. A cardboard horn is thin at the tip and takes a knock badly.
The build
Ninety-four pieces, an hour and a half or so. Fewer pieces than the animal heads but a slightly more involved assembly because of the separate horn stacks.
Finished
20 × 11 × 17.5 cm, one of the tallest models in the range. Narrow front-to-back and tall, so it suits a shelf edge where a cubic model would need depth.
