About this product
A curved base that will not stay level
A wooden crescent 18 × 6 cm that rocks on its curve, and fifteen cylinders of different diameters from 1.5 to 3.5 cm. The game is to load the cylinders onto the crescent without tipping it.
Because the base is curved rather than flat, every piece placed moves the balance point. There is no safe first move.
What it teaches without saying so
Weight distribution, in the only way a three-year-old can absorb it: by placing something and watching the whole thing tilt. A heavier cylinder near the centre does less damage than a light one at the end, and children work that out by failing.
