About this product

A dream catcher on grey wood

A stained grey board with a green cast – the coldest stain in the range – and a dream catcher engraved in fine line across it: a hoop with a beaded rim, a crescent moon inside the hoop filled with curling ornament, and seven feathers hanging below on beaded strings, each feather drawn differently.

The drawing is all hairline. Nothing is filled in, so the design sits lightly on the wood and the grain shows through everywhere, feathers included.

What the date line makes of it

Every page of the block is headed with a date line and the days of the week to tick, which turns the notebook into a diary without anyone deciding it should be one. For a dream journal, or for pages written before the day starts, that header does the tidying: date, day, and then whatever came in the night.

Against a desk of oak or walnut the grey board reads as deliberately different rather than as part of a set, which is also what a journal should be.

How it is built

The cover is a single sheet of birch plywood, scored along the spine with a row of laser cuts so that it bends like a hinge; closed, the notebook reads as one solid block of wood. Inside, a four-ring mechanism is screwed to the cover – the two screw heads show on the back, beside our CREATIF mark – and holds the block between black card leaves. The rings open: a page lifts out cleanly, and a new block goes in when this one is full.

Paper and format

100 lined sheets of 90 g/m² paper, each page headed with a date line and the days of the week. It takes pencil, ballpoint and fineliner. 18.5 × 22 × 4 cm closed, a little over half a kilo.
