About this product

The plain option, and the quietest

Small wooden balls, one centimetre across, on steel points, finished in a warm gold-brown close to the tone of stained birch. No printing, no flag, no shape – a dot on the map and nothing more.

Because they are wood in a wood tone, they stay closer to the map's own palette than any printed or painted marker can.

When a plain pin is the right one

Flags identify a country. Plain pins mark a spot, which is what you want for a city rather than a nation: three pins in France say Paris, Lyon and Biarritz, where one French flag says only France.

They also suit anyone who wants the map to stay a decorative object. A wall of flags is a record; a scatter of small wooden dots is texture.

A hundred is a lot

Enough to mark every city on a lifetime of travelling, and enough to share. The count exists because plain pins get used in numbers that flags do not.

Beyond the map

They work on cork, softboard and photo walls exactly as they do on plywood, so what is left over does not go to waste.
