About this product
Flowers in one corner
Warm brown birch with a bouquet engraved in fine line in the lower right corner – peonies, a tulip on its stalk, buds, leaves and small berries – climbing partway up the right edge. The rest of the cover, well over half of it, is plain wood, with the word SKETCHBOOK engraved top left.
That is unusual here and deliberate. Most covers in this range fill their surface; this one puts everything in one corner and leaves the grain to do the rest.
Why the empty space works
A cover that is mostly bare reads as restrained rather than unfinished, provided the drawing is fine enough to hold its own. This one is drawn at the density of a pen sketch, so it does not need scale to carry.
It is the quietest design in the range, and the one for a recipient whose taste you are unsure of.
How it is built
A one-piece birch cover scored along the spine so that it bends like a hinge, with the block on rings inside: a page lies flat, a finished drawing lifts out, and a new block goes in when this one is full. The same bouquet with lined pages is the Spring wooden notebook.
Paper and format
50 blank sheets of 200 g/m² watercolour paper, heavy enough to take a wash. A5, about 620 g.
