About this product

A unicorn framed by blossom

Mid-tone honey birch, a unicorn's head in profile facing right, the horn spiralling up towards the top edge – and clusters of blossom with leaves in two opposite corners, upper left and lower right, so the design crosses the cover on a diagonal. The word SKETCHBOOK sits top right on this one, the only cover of our five where it moves, because the blossom has taken its corner.

The mane is not hair. Every lock is filled with a different ornament – chevrons, scales, dots, spirals – the way a mandala or a zentangle drawing is built, and the eye and the muzzle are drawn the same way. It is a decorative unicorn, not a storybook one: no pastel, no glitter, just line on wood.

Why the corner blossom matters

A single central image on a rectangular cover leaves the corners empty and the composition floating. Blossom at two opposite corners pulls the eye across on the diagonal, and the cover reads as composed rather than stamped.

How it is built

One sheet of birch plywood, scored along the spine with a row of laser cuts so that it bends like a hinge; closed, it reads as a solid block of wood. Inside, a four-ring mechanism screwed to the cover – the two screw heads show on the back, beside our CREATIF mark – holds the block behind a black card leaf. The rings open: a finished drawing lifts out cleanly, and a new block goes in when this one is full.

Paper and format

50 blank sheets of 200 g/m² watercolour paper, heavy enough to take a wash. 18.5 × 22 × 4 cm closed, a little over half a kilo. The same unicorn with lined pages is the Unicorn wooden notebook.
