About this product

A wolf in facets, in landscape

The most graphic cover in the range, and one of two cut in landscape rather than portrait. Pale grey-washed birch with the grain showing through, a howling wolf drawn in flat facets like folded paper, and behind it a geometric emblem rather than a scene: a hexagon around the wolf, a triangle holding a smaller inverted triangle above, a double zigzag at its left.

The binding is different too. A black leather spine held by four brass rivets, a leather strap that closes across the front on a brass stud, and the word SKETCHBOOK with the maker's mark engraved top left.

Wide rather than tall

A landscape page suits a wide drawing – a skyline, a shoreline, a panorama – and a spread that runs across both pages in a way a portrait format cannot. The other landscape cover in the range is the Alpine, with a mountain scene and a wooden hinge instead of leather.

The strap

A stud fastening rather than an elastic. It holds the covers shut against a bag full of pencils, which is why this is the design that travels best. Inside, the block rides on rings: a page lies flat, a finished drawing lifts out, and a new block goes in when this one is full.

Paper and format

50 blank sheets of 90 g/m² drawing paper, for pencil, ink and marker rather than washes; if you want watercolour paper in a landscape book, take the Alpine. Landscape A5, about 570 g.
