About this product

A crab wearing its house

A cartoon hermit crab looking out from under a spiral shell, red claws below, big pale-blue eyes, seaweed trailing from the shell's rim over its brow. Thirty-five pieces, drawn with thick outlines and flat colour.

The shell takes up more of the board than the animal, which is accurate: a hermit crab is mostly borrowed house.

Two areas, two jobs

The shell is a yellow-to-orange spiral with small shells engraved into it; the crab below is bright red with those oversized eyes. The division is clear enough that a child sorts the pieces into two piles in the first minute without being asked and builds each part separately.

That makes thirty-five pieces feel like two small boards, which is why this works at five when a thirty-five-piece animal in one colour would not.

The spiral

The shell's spiral is the only part with a required order. Pieces have to follow the curve outward, and placing one out of sequence leaves a gap that nothing else will fill.

Where it sits

Same piece count and price as our Beautiful Ladybug – a sideways step, not a harder one, for a child who has finished either.

Our craftsmanship

Made by our family, piece by piece

Every creatifwood puzzle starts as a sheet of birch plywood in our family workshop. We laser-cut every piece into its own shape – no two are alike – check each set by hand, and pack it in a gift-ready box. No production lines, no shortcuts – just a small family that loves working with wood, and takes it personally that your puzzle brings people together around the table.
