About this product

A bottle made of bottles

The silhouette of a wine bottle engraved on the front panel, filled with dozens of small bottles, glasses and goblets packed inside its outline – a cellar drawn in the shape of the thing it holds – with the word VIN above it. It is the busiest of the three motifs and the one people look at twice.

Warm mid-brown, between the two

The stain sits between the near-black of our Glass box and the bare birch of the light boxes: a warm oak brown, clearly finished but not formal. It suits a bottle given to a friend rather than to a client. The same drawing on pale birch, without the rope, is the light Bottle box.

How it opens and what comes with it

Hook a finger in the hole at the top of the front panel and lift: the panel slides up out of grooves in the side panels, the bottle lifts out, and the panel slides back down to close the box again. A jute rope handle is threaded through the top. A flat oval glass holder comes with it: set the hole over the neck of the bottle and it carries two glasses by their stems.

Afterwards

Because the front slides closed again, the box outlives the bottle: kitchen utensils and long-handled tools stand in it, or brushes and rulers on a desk, or a few dried stems. Or it takes the next bottle, with the glass holder, and is given on.

Size and what fits

10.5 × 10.5 × 33.5 cm, a little under 400 g empty, cut for one standard 75 cl bottle of still wine. The inside is bare wood, no padding, and the bottle stands upright in it.
