About this product
Every flag named on the card
Two hundred and ninety-one flags, each printed on a domed pin head and each labelled with its country underneath. That labelling is the part that matters: without it you are hunting for Kiribati among two hundred and ninety small circles.
The cards are organised in sections – countries of the world, then the states of the USA, the provinces of Canada, the states of Australia – with each section titled, so a flag goes back to a findable place as easily as it came out.
Pins stay in the card until you use them
They arrive pressed into printed kraft cards rather than loose in a box. Take out the ones you need and the rest stay ordered, named and findable a year later.
That is a practical difference rather than a packaging one. A traveller uses a handful of flags at a time, and a box of unsorted pins becomes unusable the moment it is tipped out.
How many you will actually use
Fewer than you think. Unless you have visited half the world, you will place a few dozen at most, so the set is not a consumable – it is a reference you draw from as you travel, over years.
The countries you have not been to are the point of the other two hundred and sixty.
Fitting them to the map
The pin is a steel point that pushes into plywood by hand, anywhere you choose – our maps are not pre-drilled, so a flag is never limited to someone else's idea of where the holes should be. On the layered 3D maps it goes into the country itself; on the 2D maps, through the flat panel.
Worth knowing before you order: on the smallest map sizes some countries are too small to take a pin of this diameter without covering their neighbours. On the S format the flags work for larger countries only.
What it is
291 flag pins on printed cards, in a kraft sleeve with a world map on the cover. It is a gift as it arrives, with no wrapping needed.
