About this product

The mountain behind cherry blossom

Fuji sits in the upper left, pale against a violet dawn sky, with a river running out of the frame in the foreground and cherry trees in full blossom filling the right half of the disc. The whole image is worked in pinks and purples rather than in the usual blues.

It is the softest palette of the six landscapes, and the only one where the landmark is not the largest thing on the board.

Blossom is the hardest texture we cut

A cherry tree in bloom has no edges. The colour varies by a shade from piece to piece and there is no line, no boundary and no repeating shape to anchor to. Roughly a third of this puzzle is blossom – broken only by the figure pieces hiding in it, cut as birds and butterflies, which announce their place the moment you find one.

The river is the counterweight. It runs as a bright reflective band up the centre of the image, and it is the only feature with a defined shape.

How it gets built

Mountain first, then the river, then the two banks, and the blossom last – worked inward from the wooden edge, which is the one boundary the flowers cannot cross.

Our craftsmanship

Made by our family, piece by piece

Every creatifwood puzzle starts as a sheet of birch plywood in our family workshop.
