Walls with a walkway along the top
Two hundred and eighty-two pieces build defensive walls rather than a building, and the detail that makes them worth building is the combat passage running along the top – the walkway from which a town was actually defended.
Fortification walls served two purposes historically. They kept attackers out, and they announced that the community behind them was independent enough to build them. The second reason is why they were made taller than they needed to be.
Building without a floor plan
A house set has one shape. Walls do not, so this is the set in the series with the most freedom: the booklet shows a fortification layout, but the same pieces run in any line or enclosure you want.
Start from the foundation on a flat rigid surface, lay the lowest course, then build up beam by beam. Corners lock the run in place, so a wall without corners will not stand.
